ONE-OF-A-KIND PROCESS

My commissions are best suited to collectors who connect with my existing body of work and are excited to give me creative freedom.
While your song and story are deeply considered throughout the process, commissions are not designed collaboratively and do not include traditional rounds of creative revisions.

If you're looking for a specific image, exact colour palette, or predetermined composition, my commission process may not be the right fit.

If you're excited to see what your story becomes through my eyes, I'd love to hear it.

Ready to turn your song into something you can keep?

Your Song,

My Interpretation

01 — Select Your Song

Every commission begins with a song.

It could be your wedding song, something that reminds you of a person or place, a song connected to an important chapter of your life, or simply one that makes you feel something you want captured in art.

You'll submit your chosen song along with the size of artwork you're interested in.

02 — Tell Me the Story

You'll have the opportunity to tell me why the song matters to you.

Share as much or as little as you'd like. A memory, a person, a feeling, a particular moment, or even a few words can give me another layer of inspiration to work from.

This isn't a creative brief. You don't need to tell me what the painting should look like.

03 — I Interpret It

This is where you hand the creative process over to me.

I'll spend time with your song and story before allowing the artwork to develop through my established painting practice.

The music guides the emotional atmosphere while I intuitively explore colour, movement, texture, composition, and mark-making. Symbolism or illustrative elements may emerge naturally throughout the process, but they aren't predetermined or forced.

Because each commission is an original artistic interpretation, specific colours, imagery, symbols, or compositions cannot be guaranteed.

04 — The Painting Comes to Life

Once I begin painting, I allow the work to evolve organically.

There may be unexpected marks, changes in direction, layers that disappear beneath others, or details that only make sense once the painting begins to take shape.

That's an intentional part of my process.

Rather than working toward a predetermined design, I'm responding to the music, the canvas, and the visual relationships developing in front of me.

When the artwork is complete, you'll experience the finished piece for the first time.

Your commission will arrive with details about the artwork and its musical inspiration, along with a Certificate of Authenticity.

From there, the story becomes yours again.

You may see pieces of the song, your memory, or your own meaning within the finished artwork that I never could have planned, and that's part of what makes the process so special.
